AFTERSHOCK'S BACKGROUND

Jesus’s immortal walk upon this earth, while spreading his gospel not only swayed a region to the way of his salvation, but shook nations to their core. Even when the veil was lifted and our savoir took his last breath the earth quaked. The title Aftershock for our youth program is describing us as The Word
spreads throughout the nations and around the world still bringing his people to salvation. We “His
People” are the very shock wave that his life and death began.

OUR MISSION

At FTC we believe that the youth is the future and a youth ministry should be to develop teens that demonstrate active, disciplined, spiritual maturity.  The Bible teaches a faith that is actively working to become more like Christ (James 2:14-26).  Our Lord gives us the perfect example when He was a young man.  Luke 2:52 says, “And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.”  Increasing in wisdom (mentally) and in stature (physically) in many ways happens naturally.  Our Mission focuses on developing young people  who increase in favor with God (spiritually) and man (socially). At FTC we have three main objectives:

The first objective of youth ministry is "to enable young people to live as disciples of Jesus Christ in our world today". Young people are "looking for a noble adventure", an attractive and challenging vision of life, because it is worth your commitment. They are hungry to hear the Good News that finds an answer in discipleship. As their Companions on this spiritual journey, some of the ways in which the Church fulfills this first objective of youth ministry is through:

                               * Proclaiming the Good News of Jesus through witness and word to young people.

                               * Enabling young people to live as disciples through their involvement in service, ministry, and                                              leadership opportunities.

                               * Providing young people the faith skills for discipleship.

The second objective is  to attract young people to a responsible participation in the life, mission and work in the Pentecostal faith . Young people are hungry for connection, to be in a relationship and to belong. To have peers; the school, organizations that serve young people and the church are primary connections for young people. Some of the forms that the church fulfills this second objective of youth ministry are:

*Being a youth friendly community that welcomes young people, values their participation,  and                                        calls forth their gifts.

                            * Integrating young people into the  pastoral, and ministerial life of the church                                                                         community.

                            * Creating opportunities for young people to enter into healthy relationships of trust and                                                       respect with their peers and with adults.

The third objective of youth ministry is to foster the personal and spiritual growth of each young person. Adolescence is an important moment for mental, spiritual, social and physical growth. Your experiences and Relationships greatly influence your healthy and positive development. Our Youth Leaders strive to surround young people with the best possible external scaffolds: networks of effective relationships of the family, school, classmates and other adults. While young people develop their internal psychological and spiritual backbone: their values, life skills, commitments and moral compass, FTC fulfills this third objective of youth ministry by:

*Enabling young people to develop a personal relationship with Jesus.

                           * Actively supporting positive youth development and fostering healthy values and life skills.                                             * Supporting families of young people by providing resources, programs, and services.

                           * Providing opportunities to experience and express caring, service, and compassion for others.
